About This Role
NV5 is seeking an Aircraft Captain headquartered in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, with remote flexibility. The Captain serves as Pilot in Command for geospatial missions, retaining final authority for safe, compliant, and efficient aircraft operations while leading mission planning, crew coordination, risk management, and real-time decisions. The role includes line operations, pilot training and evaluation, extensive travel, and a 16-days-on/12-days-off schedule.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Captain performs preflight and post-flight aircraft inspections, including cleaning the aircraft interior and exterior after each flight. Responsibilities include mission planning, aircraft performance calculations, weather interpretation, ground-support coordination, air-traffic-control coordination, and client coordination. The Captain works with the Sensor Operator to complete missions safely and efficiently
- supervises vendor compliance for fueling and outsourced maintenance
- moves aircraft into and out of hangars
- reports aircraft and project status
- coordinates with mechanics to track and schedule maintenance on NVS Geospatial aircraft
- verifies airworthiness, FAA record compliance, personal qualifications, currency, and medical status
- and keeps charts, publications, manuals, and avionics downloads current. The position also requires compliance with applicable ethical, legal, regulatory, company, SMS, and client requirements. Training duties include company onboarding, aircraft initial and recurrent training through a third-party provider, initial operating experience, line-oriented flight training, remedial training, ground-training modules, pilot-group training, and other mandated corporate or client training events. Administrative duties include helping establish employment qualifications, hiring procedures, salary and grade structures, performance-appraisal procedures, dismissal procedures, employee-development practices, morale initiatives, and department meetings.

Requirements
- Required qualifications include an FAA single- or multi-engine Commercial pilot license, at least one year of experience as Pilot in Command of an aircraft operated under CFR 14 Part 91, 135, or 121, a high school diploma or GED, at least 750 hours of total flight time, and an FAA Second Class Medical Certificate. Preferred qualifications include Certified Flight Instructor credentials, including CFI, CFII, and MEI
- at least one year of experience as a certified flight or multiengine instructor
- aerial survey experience
- experience in King Air 200, Cessna Conquest II, or Cessna Caravan aircraft
- pressurized turbine aircraft experience
- multiengine experience
- remote flying experience in Alaska or a similar environment
- and a bachelor's degree. The role also requires strong communication skills, the ability to work effectively with associates and senior management, a positive and professional presence, composure under pressure, and strong organization when managing multiple competing priorities.
