About This Role
Full-time Lead Captain position operating a Falcon 900EX for a Part 91 account based at Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport. In addition to serving as a flight crewmember, the Lead Captain is the principal operational link between the flight department, aircraft account, Account Manager, Director of Maintenance, training leadership, Assistant Chief Pilot, and trip-support personnel. The role combines safe flight operations with crew oversight, scheduling and training coordination, aircraft readiness, maintenance communication, expense and invoice review, owner support, and stewardship of Clay Lacy Aviation's culture and operating standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as Pilot in Command or Second in Command as designated and ensure compliance with flight and maintenance schedules, operating directives, company SOPs, flight and duty limitations, the General Operations Manual, and pre-flight and post-flight inspection requirements under the aircraft flight manual.
- Maintain aircraft readiness by coordinating cleaning, managing onboard inventory, understanding installed equipment, maintaining required operational authorizations, monitoring scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, helping resolve and communicate mechanical AOG events, reviewing maintenance invoices, and ensuring that squawks and maintenance scheduling are communicated to the Maintenance Controller, Director of Maintenance, scheduling personnel, and Account Manager.
- Lead flight-department administration by monitoring crew performance, contributing to annual reviews, approving expense reports, reviewing billing summaries, coordinating days off and vacation requests, reviewing crew currency and upcoming training or evaluation requirements, conducting annual aircraft-record audits, and ensuring compliance with fleet documentation requirements.
- Act as liaison among the Assistant Chief Pilot, Director of Training, Account Manager, Director of Maintenance, Trip Support Specialists, owner, charter department, and Chief Pilot's office.
- Communicate owner or charter-client trip changes, support special projects and reporting, maintain strong internal and external working relationships, promote company culture, provide process and safety feedback, help manage the aircraft owner's experience, update scheduling personnel, organize regular flight-department meetings, participate in interviewing and selecting personnel, obtain account-management input on operational and personnel matters, and recommend additional training for flight-department members.

Requirements
- Applicants must hold a DA-900 type rating, an ATP certificate, and a First Class Medical, and must remain current with applicable flight requirements. They must satisfy the applicable FAA Part 91 and/or Part 135 requirements for the assigned aircraft, possess a valid unexpired driver's license and passport, pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check, and reside within a two-hour drivable commute of KBZN. Clay Lacy Aviation expects sufficient experience to operate the assigned aircraft safely under its operational specifications and manuals. Candidates must demonstrate pilot skills appropriate to the operation, strong customer relations, sound organization and prioritization, excellent interpersonal communication, analytical and critical-thinking ability, initiative, teamwork, integrity, collaboration, and the ability to perform accurately under extreme pressure.
