About This Role
FlightSafety International is seeking a part-time Simulator Second in Command based in the Wichita, Kansas metropolitan area. The role supports internal and external customer pilots who attend recurrent, initial, or generic training without a flying partner. The successful candidate maintains currency and qualification in assigned simulator programs and serves as a competent SIC in multi-crew aircraft without performing instructional duties. Assignments may support Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients across various aircraft types.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain currency in assigned programs so that you can act as Second-in-Command for internal and external customer pilots attending recurrent, initial, or generic training within the established curriculum.
- Serve as the SIC for clients training in multi-crew aircraft who arrive without a flying partner, acting as a competent flight-crew member rather than an instructor.
- Maintain SIC pilot qualification under the requirements of assigned programs and FlightSafety International’s Quality Management Systems processes and procedures.
- Keep all certificates, ratings, and designations required for SIC duties current, and act as SIC in various aircraft types for Part 142, Part 135, and non-FAA clients as required.
Requirements
- Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED together with two to three years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Before beginning SIC duties, candidates must possess a Commercial Pilot Certificate with the appropriate category, class, and instrument ratings and a minimum of 450 hours.
- The position requires fluent spoken and written English, excellent cockpit verbal communication, professional interaction with customers, and the ability to adapt to changing schedules and high-pressure situations.
- A second language may be required at some Learning Centers.
- Candidates must be physically able to manipulate rudder or anti-torque controls with both feet, operate simulator controls, enter and exit the simulator via its ramp, and exit a malfunctioned simulator in a severely pitched attitude.
- The role requires the specified visual abilities and may involve lifting up to 25 pounds, exposure to moving mechanical parts and varied environmental conditions, and compliance with OFAC, ITAR/EAR export-control, and any applicable U.S.
- Government security-clearance requirements.
