About This Role
MAF (Mission Aviation Fellowship) is seeking experienced Mission Pilots to operate light aircraft across remote and underdeveloped regions in Africa and the Pacific, including South Sudan, Liberia, Guinea, Chad, Madagascar, Uganda, Papua New Guinea, and Bougainville. Founded in 1945, MAF is a Christian organization operating 116 aircraft that provide vital transportation services to medical personnel, development workers, and aid organizations while delivering humanitarian and religious resources to isolated communities. Candidates must hold a Commercial Pilot License with instrument rating, Class 1 Medical Certificate, and a minimum of 500-1000 flight hours (or 250 hours from Preferred Training Providers). This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in some of the world's most challenging and remote environments while serving underserved communities through aviation.
Requirements
- ICAO Commercial Pilot License with instrument rating
- Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate
- IELTS minimum English proficiency level 6 or equivalent
- Minimum 500 to 1000+ flight hours (depending on country AOC and aircraft demands)
- Candidates from Preferred Training Provider may be considered with minimum 250 hours
- Strong aptitude in verbal and numerical reasoning
- Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft performance and loading
- Knowledge of aerodynamics and aircraft systems
- Proficiency in weather analysis and aircraft instrumentation
- Crew Resource Management and Cockpit Resource Management skills
- Pilot decision-making capability
- Knowledge of safety and quality systems
- Appropriate work permits for country of assignment required
- Desirable: IFR operations experience
- Desirable: Experience in mountain or bush flying
- Desirable: Professional proficiency in French (for Chad, Madagascar, Guinea positions)
- Desirable: Recent proficiency in single-pilot operations to CPL standards
- Desirable: Commercial or corporate aviation experience
