About This Role
Mission Aviation Fellowship is seeking an experienced Float Plane Pilot to operate in Papua New Guinea's Western Province, serving remote and isolated communities with vital aviation services for medical, humanitarian, and development missions. As a Christian organization founded in 1945, MAF operates 116 aircraft across 31 countries, with a significant presence in PNG where only 18% of the population lives in urban areas. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1000 total flight hours with 100 hours PIC on turbine aircraft, a commercial pilot license with float endorsement, and Class 1 medical certification. This mission-driven role offers the opportunity to combine professional aviation expertise with meaningful humanitarian work in one of the world's most remote and challenging operational environments.
Requirements
  • ICAO Commercial Pilot License with instrument rating
  • Minimum 1000 hours total flight time
  • Minimum 100 hours PIC on turbine aircraft
  • Float endorsement
  • Valid Class 1 Aviation Medical Certificate
  • English proficiency level 6 or higher
  • Aptitude in verbal and numerical reasoning
  • Demonstrated proficiency in aircraft performance and loading, aerodynamics, and aircraft systems
  • Knowledge of weather, aircraft instrumentation, and crew resource management
  • PNG or remote area operational experience in commercial aviation
  • Pilot decision-making and safety systems knowledge
