About This Role
Full-time continuing Grade 1 (Aeroplane) Flight Instructor at the RMIT Aviation Academy, based at the Point Cook campus near Melbourne. The instructor supports ab initio training of students working toward CASA licences within an Associate or Bachelor Degree in Aviation (Pilot Training), acting as a subject matter expert in ab initio pilot instruction and mentoring early-career flight instructors. Salary is set against the Air Pilot Award (2020) at $84,186 - $104,178 + 12% Superannuation.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the development and training of RMIT Aviation Academy students to achieve their CASA licences on completion of an Associate or Bachelor Degree in Aviation (Pilot Training).
- Conduct ab initio flight training as a subject matter expert in ab initio pilot instruction.
- Mentor and guide early-career flight instructors.
- Collaborate with diverse teaching and academic staff to maintain positive, productive relationships that improve learning and teaching quality.
Requirements
- Mandatory: Held a Flight Instructor (Aeroplane) rating Grade 2 for at least 12 months.
- Logged at least 750 hours of instructional experience including 500 hours flight time in a registered aeroplane instructing in any sequences other than navigational sequences relevant to the issue of a private pilot (aeroplane) licence.
- Passed a written examination in the principles of teaching and learning (CASR 40.1.7 Appendix II) for the original issue of the rating.
- Recommended by the Chief Flying Instructor or Head of Operations of an instructing school.
- Passed a Grade 1 instructor rating flight test conducted by CASA, an approved testing officer or an approved person.
- Must hold (or complete within 12 months) a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40110 or TAE40116), or a Diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education.
- Appointment subject to a Working with Children and National Police Check.
