About This Role
This Flight Instructor position at Spartan Flight Campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma offers an opportunity to train student pilots in various piston aircraft through their Professional Pilot Course. The role combines flight instruction with ground school teaching, student portfolio management, and training documentation responsibilities. Instructors earn $19.00-$26.00 per hour with per diem pay and up to 50% travel requirements. The position requires a CFI certificate and offers professional development through mandatory standardization training and exposure to dispatch and line operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Schedule and coordinate flight and ground instruction with students toward training progress
  • Manage student training portfolios and maintain training records
  • Perform flight and ground instruction as assigned by supervisory personnel
  • Maintain consistent quality of instruction per school and FAA standards
  • Attend mandatory standardization training and perform Solo Monitor duties as required
  • Develop and prepare course outlines, study materials, and instructional procedures
  • Lecture on aircraft construction, Federal Aviation Regulations, and radio navigation
  • Demonstrate aircraft components, instruments, and control techniques using synthetic instrument trainers
  • Observe student actions during training flights to ensure compliance with FAA regulations
  • Test and evaluate student progress using written tests, performance evaluations, and oral interviews
  • Prepare students for flight evaluations with high quality training and effective feedback
  • Accomplish weekly scheduling functions and submit daily student progress reports
  • Provide administrative documentation relating to student training within prescribed time limits
  • Participate in Dispatch and Line Crew Line Operations as part of professional development

Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Active CFI (Certified Flight Instructor) certificate
  • FAA Class III Medical Certificate
  • CFII (Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument) preferred
  • MEI (Multi-Engine Instructor) preferred
  • FAA Class II Medical Certificate preferred
  • Active pursuit of undergraduate degree highly sought
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to maneuver aircraft in various weather conditions
  • Up to 50% travel required, including overnight flights
