About This Role
Middle Tennessee State University's Department of Aerospace is hiring Certified Flight Instructors (CFI) for temporary hourly positions in the Flight Training program. MTSU is recognized as the #1 choice for veterans and operates a comprehensive Part 141 flight school. Candidates must possess a valid Certified Flight Instructor certificate and successfully complete a rigorous multi-round recruitment process including technical testing, teaching demonstrations, and interviews. Instructors will be based in Murfreesboro, Tennessee with hiring dates in July and December annually.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide flight instruction on DA40 Tundra aircraft
- Conduct ground lessons and classroom instruction
- Evaluate student pilot performance and progress
- Maintain flight training records and documentation

Requirements
- Valid Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) certificate
- Specializations in ASE (Airplane Single Engine), IA (Instrument), or AME (Airplane Multi-Engine)
- Pass 1-hour technical test
- Demonstrate teaching ability through 10-minute ground lesson presentation
- Pass 1-hour interview
- Able to complete all recruitment rounds in person at MTSU facilities
- Available for proficiency flights and training (July 28 - August 21 or December period)
