About This Role
Southwest Airlines seeks a Flight Instructor to support the Flight Operations Department by providing training to pilots in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company requirements. This role involves conducting classroom and simulator-based training at Southwest's Dallas headquarters to ensure pilots have the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary for safe and reliable flight operations. Candidates must hold an unrestricted FAA Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with multiengine land ratings and demonstrate excellent communication and instructional abilities. Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and conduct classroom training in accordance with FARs and training policies
- Conduct simulator training to ensure pilots have required knowledge and hands-on experience
- Facilitate pilot learning through proper flight instruction
- Develop and create instructional and evaluation media/materials
- Maintain course material and procedural integrity through self-study and instructor meetings
- Perform critique reviews of training
- Perform other job duties as directed by leadership

Requirements
- USA DOT/FAA Unrestricted Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
- Airplane Multiengine Land category and class ratings
- English Proficient limitation on certificate
- Flying experience operating an aircraft
- Valid United States Driver's License
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be at least 23 years of age
- U.S. citizenship or current authorization to work in the U.S.
- No current or future work authorization sponsorship required
- Must meet all regulatory criteria to obtain and maintain Flight Deck Jumpseat Access
- Successful and continuous enrollment in Rap Back required
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- Knowledge of training equipment including computer-based training workstations
- Excellent English verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to read technical aircraft documents and follow technical instructions
- Ability to work various assigned hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Valid vision ability to view and read computer/video/flight deck displays
- Ability to enter and exit aircraft and simulators under normal and emergency conditions
- Ability to sit in simulator uninterrupted for up to 4 hours
- Ability to work extended hours as needed
- Professional behavior on and off company hours
- Must comply with company attendance and appearance standards
- Must meet confidentiality expectations
- Air travel with overnight stays required
