United Airlines is hiring Flight Attendants for multiple bases including Chicago. This entry-level position offers competitive hourly pay ($28.88-$67.11/hour based on seniority), comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), flight privileges, and a $1,000 bonus upon successful completion of 6.5-week training in Houston. Candidates must be 21+, have a high school diploma, 1+ year customer service experience, speak English fluently, and pass medical/background checks.
Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age at time of application
- High school graduate or GED (2+ years of college preferred)
- At least 1 year of customer service experience in service industry (retail, hospitality, food, teaching, aviation, social service)
- Fluent in English (spoken, read, written, and understood)
- Ability to speak in clear, concise, organized manner loud enough to be heard in emergency
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound
- Professional appearance and excellent grooming standards
- Willing to follow uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines
- No tattoos on head, hands, fingers, or neck (including back of neck, on/in/behind ear)
- Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, feet must not exceed 3.5 x 2.24 inches and must not be offensive
- No decorative covers, adornments, or jewelry on teeth or in mouth
- Valid passport in current possession with at least 18 months validity at time of application
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, lift heavy objects up to 250 lbs
- Ability to pass functional reach assessment with 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach without shoes
- Ability to sit in jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened
- Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops)
- Willing to serve and/or sell food and beverages including alcohol
- Willing and able to work flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, holidays
- Available for global assignments 24/7 including nights, weekends, holidays, extended hours
- Willing to fulfill reserve assignments on short notice
- Must successfully complete evacuation drill in water (pool) during training
- Must complete pre-employment DOT drug screen
- Must complete comprehensive background checks and fingerprinting
- Must pass vision and hearing tests
- Must pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens
- Must pass 10-year background check including criminal history
- No medical or recreational marijuana use (safety-sensitive position)
- Must meet FAA and United hearing requirements (hearing loss not greater than 40 dB at 500, 1000, 2000 Hz in better ear)
- Each eye must be 20/40 or better corrected for both far and near vision
- Proficiency in second language highly desirable (Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog)
- Ability to pass comprehensive background check that does not prohibit travel anywhere United flies
