United Airlines is hiring Flight Attendants for their San Francisco base and seven other hub locations. This is a full-time permanent position offering competitive pay ($28.88-$67.11/hour), comprehensive benefits, extensive travel privileges, and 6.5 weeks of paid training in Houston. Must have valid U.S. work authorization and a valid passport with 18+ months validity.
Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age at time of application
- High school graduate or GED (2+ years of college preferred)
- At least one year of customer service experience in service industry (retail, hospitality, food, teaching, aviation, social service)
- Fluent in English (speak, read, write, and understand)
- Ability to speak clearly and loudly enough to be heard in an emergency
- Ability to hear all types and ranges of sound
- Professional appearance and excellent grooming standards
- Willingness to follow uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines
- No tattoos on head, hands, fingers, neck, or behind ears
- Visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, and feet must be smaller than 3.5 inches x 2.24 inches and not offensive
- No decorative covers or jewelry on teeth or in mouth
- Ability to proficiently operate electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops)
- Valid passport prior to application with minimum 18 months validity remaining
- Current physical possession of valid U.S. or foreign passport book with applicable visas
- Ability to travel to and from all countries United serves without restrictions
- Ability to enter and exit all United destinations as a working crew member
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, stoop, stretch, reach, and lift heavy objects (up to luggage weight)
- Ability to push and pull beverage cart (up to 250 lbs)
- Functional reach assessment: combined 76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach (simultaneous), without shoes
- Ability to sit in jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened
- Required to serve and/or sell food and beverages including alcohol
- Willing and able to work flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and reserve assignments
- Willing to complete evacuation drill in water (pool) during training
- Willing to complete pre-employment DOT drug screen, comprehensive background checks, and fingerprinting
- Able to pass DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screens
- No medical or recreational marijuana use
- Able to pass 10-year background check including criminal history
- Background must not prohibit travel to countries United serves
- Hearing and vision requirements per FAA and United Airlines standards
- Hearing: no greater than 40 dB loss when averaged at 500, 1000, 2000 Hz in better ear
- Vision: each eye 20/40 or better corrected for both far and near vision
- Proficiency in second language highly desirable (Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog)
