About This Role
Second-in-Command fixed-wing pilot for Intermountain Health's Life Flight air-ambulance operation, based at the Life Flight Operations Center (Salt Lake City, Utah). Works alongside the Pilot-in-Command on flight planning, system monitoring, and safety/regulatory compliance for patient-transport missions under FAA Part 135.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Pilot-in-Command with pre-flight planning, including weather briefings, weight and balance calculations, and flight route analysis.
- Conduct pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks to ensure aircraft systems are functioning properly.
- Monitor aircraft performance during flight and provide critical support to the PIC in decision-making.
- Communicate effectively with air traffic control and other operational stakeholders.
- Maintain knowledge of and compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Collaborate with the PIC to promote a culture of safety, operational excellence, and teamwork.
- Assist with documentation and record-keeping, including aircraft logbooks and trip reports.
- Represent the company professionally when interacting with patients, families, and the public.

Requirements
- Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Instrument Rating or an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate; appropriate category and class ratings
- Current FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate
- 800 hours of total flight time (1000 hours strongly preferred)
- Pass a 135.293 check ride within the first 60 days of hire
- Preferred: Current Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument (CFI / CFII)
- Preferred: Live within one hour of assigned base
