About This Role
Second-in-Command fixed-wing pilot role at Intermountain Health Life Flight air medical operations. The SIC works with the Pilot-in-Command on flight planning, system monitoring, and safety protocols for air medical transport missions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Assist the Pilot-in-Command with pre-flight planning, including weather briefings, weight and balance calculations, and flight route analysis.
- Conduct pre-flight, in-flight, and post-flight checks to ensure aircraft systems are functioning properly.
- Monitor aircraft performance during flight and provide critical support to the PIC in decision-making.
- Communicate effectively with air traffic control and other operational stakeholders.
- Maintain knowledge of and compliance with FAA regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with documentation and record-keeping, including aircraft logbooks and trip reports.
Requirements
- FAA Certifications: Commercial Pilot Certificate with an Instrument Rating or an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
- appropriate category and class ratings. Current FAA Second-Class Medical Certificate. Flight Experience: 800 hours of total flight time
- 1000 hours strongly preferred. Other: Pass a 135.293 check ride within the first 60 days of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument (CFI / CFII)
- Live within one hour of assigned base.
