About This Role
Silver Air is seeking a First Officer (Second-in-Command) for Citation CJ3 operations on a part-time, ad hoc basis from Van Nuys, California. This is a precision role supporting both Part 135 charter and Part 91 operations for Silver Air's business jet fleet. Candidates must hold a current CJ3 type rating and have minimum 1,000 total hours with 1,000 multi-engine hours and 500 turbine hours preferred. This is a 24/7 on-call position with no guaranteed hours, paid at $450/day, but offers access to operational support infrastructure and a clear pathway to permanent full-time employment with comprehensive benefits including medical, 401(k) matching, and paid training.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Serve as fully qualified Second-in-Command on Part 135 charter flights
- Support Part 91 operations including crew relief, repositioning, ferry flights, and owner flights
- Review maintenance status and confirm aircraft airworthiness before each flight
- Conduct pre-flight inspections per Aircraft Flight Manual
- Complete weather, route, and alternate airport analysis before departure
- Ensure all flights comply with Silver Air procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations
- Accurately complete all trip paperwork per Silver Air standards
- Maintain currency, First Class Medical, and all recurrent training requirements independently

Requirements
- Current Citation CJ3 (CE-525S) type rating required before Part 135 operations
- Minimum 1,000 hours total flight time
- Minimum 1,000 hours multi-engine time
- 500 hours turbine time preferred
- Valid First Class Medical Certificate required and maintained independently
- Previous Part 135 SIC experience preferred but not required
- CANPASS authorization ability to obtain and maintain for Canada operations
- Schedule flexibility for 24/7 on-call availability
- Responsiveness with replies within one hour expected
- Documentation precision and compliance discipline required
