About This Role
Canadian North is seeking a First Officer to operate ATR-42 aircraft based in Ottawa, with deployments to support operations in Iqaluit on 6-14 day pairings. The airline connects 25 northern Canadian communities with a combination of scheduled passenger and cargo flights throughout the Arctic. Candidates need a minimum of 750 hours total flight time (or 250 hours with an aviation degree), a Transport Canada CPL with Instrument Rating, and a valid Category 1 Medical Certificate. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Operate ATR-42 aircraft safely in accordance with Canadian North Standard Operating Procedures
  • Perform as second-in-command under the authority of the Captain and Chief Pilot
  • Ensure safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft by adhering to Canadian North safety policies
  • Identify and communicate known hazards and risks through appropriate safety reporting programs
  • Conduct pre-flight checks and flight operations on scheduled passenger and cargo routes
  • Support operations throughout the Canadian Arctic on 6-14 day pairings
  • Successfully complete Transport Canada Pilot Proficiency Check (PPC)
  • Maintain continuous improvement through periodic review of documented processes

Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 750 hours total flight time (or 250 hours for aviation degree/diploma graduates)
  • Transport Canada Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
  • Valid IATRA or SARON and SAMRA exam completion
  • Valid Transport Canada Group 1 Instrument Rating
  • Valid Transport Canada Category 1 Medical Certificate
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Current valid passport or Canadian Permanent Resident Card
  • All required visas or travel documents for unrestricted travel
  • Ability to obtain and retain an Airport Restricted Area Identity Card
  • Ability to communicate in Inuktut (definite asset)
