NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center seeks an ER-2 Research Pilot to conduct flight operations on the ER-2 (U-2) and other NASA research aircraft at Edwards AFB. Requires 1,500 hours PIC minimum, FAA commercial pilot license, and U-2 experience preferred. Salary $170,000-$185,000/year with comprehensive benefits and DoD security clearance required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from accredited university in engineering, physical science, life science, or mathematics
- Valid US passport through period of employment
- FAA commercial pilot license with instrument, multiengine, and single engine land ratings
- Minimum 1,500 hours pilot in command (PIC)
- At least 1,000 hours in the U-2 preferred
- Current U-2 pilot within past five years preferred
- Military training with DD 214 or applicable civilian experience
- Valid NASA Flight Medical Certification
- DoD SECRET security clearance eligibility
- Ability to pass random drug screenings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to tolerate deployed environments with inclement weather
- Ability to fly long missions up to 12 hours at high altitude
- Clean background suitable for government contractor work
- Knowledge of FAA, OEM, and applicable flight regulations
- Ability to demonstrate Emergency Bold Face procedures from memory
- Knowledge of aircraft systems, limitations, and ATC procedures
