About This Role
Porter Airlines is recruiting Direct Entry Captains to operate its modern De Havilland Dash 8-400 turboprops from Toronto or Ottawa. The role calls for safety-focused, collaborative leaders who participate actively in the Safety Management System, promote company safety policies, meet Porter’s Flying Refined service standards, and maintain high personal and professional standards on every flight. Duties & Responsibilities
- Porter pilots act as leaders and work collaboratively with other team members to achieve organizational goals and meet the company’s Flying Refined service standards.
- They communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully with colleagues and other audiences.
- Pilots actively participate in Porter’s Safety Management System, including reporting hazards and incidents encountered during daily operations, understanding and complying with the Company Safety Policy, and promoting that policy.
- They are expected to operate every flight safely and hold themselves to the highest personal and professional standards.
- The role also requires identifying hazards and taking appropriate action, working effectively as part of a team, providing service excellence to passengers and internal customers, acting proactively and persistently, focusing on high-quality results, listening and building consensus, treating people fairly and honestly, inspiring others to pursue excellence, taking a people-leadership role, and supporting constructive change through new ideas and methods.

Requirements
- Applicants must hold an Airline Transport Pilot License issued by Transport Canada and have a minimum of 2,500 hours total flight time.
- They must also have either 500 hours as Pilot In Command on the Q400 or 1,500 hours as Pilot In Command on a heavy turboprop with an MGTOW above 44,000 pounds.
- Preference is given to applicants with time on type and experience in 705 operations.
- An Aviation College or University degree is an asset.
- Pilots who do not meet the minimum requirements may still be considered based on experience and other factors.
- Applicants must have the legal ability to work in Canada, demonstrated by either a current, valid Canadian passport or a current, valid international passport with a valid US Crewmember Visa (C-1/D).
