About This Role
FlightSafety International seeks a Pilot Instructor for the C-17 aircraft training program at Altus Air Force Base in Oklahoma. This role involves ground-based and simulator training for C-17 pilots, with responsibilities including instruction, debriefings, curriculum development, and serving as a Subject Matter Expert. Candidates must have 8 years of flying experience with 5 years as a C-17 pilot, plus 2 years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience. A Bachelor's degree, active SECRET Security Clearance, and U.S. Person status are required. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced flight simulators and contribute to military pilot development in a structured training environment.
Requirements
- Eight (8) years of flying experience
- Five (5) years as a C-17 pilot with air drop and aerial refueling experience (or able to obtain AMC/A3TK waiver)
- Two (2) years or 200 hours of flight instructor experience in air drop, aerial refueling, and tactics
- Bachelor's degree required
- Active SECRET Security Clearance
- U.S. Person status (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee)
- Ability to fluently read, write, speak, and understand English
- Working knowledge of instructional principles and training systems
- Knowledge of personal computers and software applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
- Successfully accomplish annual internal standardization evaluations
- Recent C-17 flight simulator pilot instructor experience desired
- CATS MECOC certification desired
- Ability to physically ingress/egress simulator and aircraft
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds frequently, occasionally up to 35 pounds
