Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) seeks Conservation Pilots to operate light aircraft (Cessna 206, 182, Super Cub, Savannah LSA) supporting field operations across Africa. Requires CPL with instrument rating, 400 hours PIC on high-performance piston aircraft, and ability to work in challenging remote environments supporting conservation, wildlife surveys, and law enforcement missions.
Requirements
  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL) with instrument rating
  • Valid medical certificate as required for CPL
  • Minimum 400 hours PIC flying experience
  • Experience flying high-performance piston aircraft (C206 or similar)
  • Experience flying Rotax-powered Light Sport Aircraft (Savannah or similar)
  • Ability to work in challenging field conditions
  • Demonstrated professionalism, discipline, and safety-first attitude
  • Ability to work effectively in teams
  • Cross-cultural communication skills
  • Effective oral and written communication in English
  • Fluency in Portuguese, French, Kiswahili, or English (some positions)
  • Experience with wildlife surveys (distinct advantage)
  • Experience in conservation science (distinct advantage)
  • Anti-poaching law enforcement background (distinct advantage)
  • Spatial data management and mapping skills (distinct advantage)
  • Airframe/Powerplant licenses (distinct advantage)
