About This Role
Leidos is seeking a Chief Pilot for Super King Air operations supporting the HR3DGI O&TI III program, a U.S. Army contract requiring expertise in ISR and mapping aircraft operations in overseas and uncontrolled airspace environments. This is a leadership role requiring deep knowledge of U.S. DoD procedures, aircraft certification, and operations in GOCO/COCO environments. Candidates must have a minimum of 4500 total flight hours with 1500 hours PIC, including 1000 hours PIC in King Air 300/350, plus 500 hours of instructor time, an active DoD Secret clearance, and U.S. citizenship. The position offers a competitive salary range of $131,300-$237,350 annually, with leadership and mentoring responsibilities for a specialized government aviation program.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide expert counsel to Program Manager and line leadership on all aspects of aircraft operations
  • Focus on aviation operations supporting U.S. Army contract
  • Operate ISR and/or mapping aircraft in OCONUS environments
  • Operate in controlled airspace under U.S. DoD and coalition oversight
  • Operate in locations with uncontrolled airspace
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Army and DoD procedures and regulations
  • Ensure compliance with aircraft certification and maintenance standards
  • Supervise and mentor pilots and aviation staff
  • Lead aviation operations projects

Requirements
  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. Security clearance at Secret level
  • Minimum 4500 hours total flight time
  • Minimum 1500 hours PIC
  • Minimum 1000 hours PIC in King Air 300/350
  • King Air 300/350 type rating required (held for last 5 consecutive years)
  • 500 hours instructor time
  • 400 hours actual instrument time
  • Experience with Proline 21 and Garmin G1000 avionics
  • Valid FAA ATP, CFI, and MEI licenses
  • FAA Class 2 Medical Certificate
  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years related experience (additional years experience may substitute for degree)
  • 4+ years supervising or leading teams or projects
  • Currently possess active DoD Secret clearance with ability to upgrade to TS/SCI
  • Valid passport and state driver's license
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring ability
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop professional documents and presentations
  • Team-oriented with strong reasoning skills
