About This Role
Schubach Aviation, a Part 91/135 charter and aircraft management company, is seeking an experienced Chief Pilot to lead their flight operations from their Carlsbad, California base. The Chief Pilot will oversee all training activities, crew standardization, and regulatory compliance for the flight crew while managing operational control under 14 CFR 135.77. Candidates must hold an ATP certificate with a first-class medical, minimum 3000 total flight hours (2000 PIC), and 500 turbine hours, with international experience preferred. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Direct all training activities of flight crewmembers
  • Provide operational input to Director of Operations on flight crew staffing and training requirements
  • Work with Training Coordinator to schedule crew training
  • Advise personnel on status of flight operations and maintain responsibility for training and standardization of flight crews
  • Prepare and maintain proficiency records, flight schedules, reports, and correspondence pertaining to operational activities
  • Ensure accurate and timely updates to training and currency tracking systems
  • Ensure aircraft have required company binders and iPad EFBs with appropriate documentation
  • Provide current insurance certificates for domestic and international coverage
  • Maintain current aircraft checklists
  • Disseminate information to crewmembers regarding routes, airports, NOTAMs, navaids, and company policies
  • Submit applicable correspondence to FAA regarding training and crew paperwork
  • Designate sufficient check pilots to ensure compliance with FAA Regulations and company policies
  • Provide administrative support to flight operations department
  • Review records for accurate flight and duty time logging
  • Exercise Operational Control under 14 CFR 135.77
  • Notify relevant departments when assuming or transferring operational control responsibility

Requirements
  • Valid FAA ATP (Airline Transport Pilot) license
  • First-class Medical Certificate
  • Minimum 3000 hours total flight time
  • Minimum 2000 hours PIC (Pilot in Command)
  • Minimum 500 turbine hours
  • International flight experience preferred
  • Ability to pass PRIA/PRD background check
  • Pass drug and alcohol screening
  • Based in or willing to relocate to Carlsbad, California
  • No violations or at-fault accidents
  • Meet FAR 119.71(c) requirements for Chief Pilot
  • Knowledge of Operations Manual, FAA Regulations, and Operations Specifications
