About This Role
Aims Community College is seeking a Check Airman/Flight Instructor to support its FAA Part 141 flight training program based in Loveland, Colorado. The position requires an experienced flight instructor with Commercial Pilot certificate and CFI ratings to conduct stage checks, audit training records, and provide flight instruction to primary and advanced aviation students. Candidates must have a minimum of 300 hours as a flight instructor and at least 6 months experience at a 141 flight school. Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct 12-month recurrent proficiency checks as required by the FAA
- Audit student flight training records to verify Federal Aviation Regulation compliance
- Perform Certified Flight Instructor responsibilities including one-on-one flight instruction to students
- Conduct preflight briefings and post-flight debriefings
- Authorize and supervise student first solo flights
- Examine students through oral and flight testing to determine FAA standards compliance
- Ensure all training and flight activities comply with Federal Aviation Regulations
- Tow airplanes using company vehicle
- Perform classroom instruction as assigned
- Participate in curriculum and training material creation and revision
- Work weekends as needed to support flight training center operations
- Serve as mentor to students and new instructors
- Attend departmental meetings, FAA inspections, and safety team meetings

Requirements
- Current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate - Airplane Single-Engine Land
- Certified Flight Instructor - Airplane Single-Engine Land
- Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument Airplane
- Minimum 1 year as a flight instructor
- Minimum 300 hours as a flight instructor
- Minimum 6 months as a flight instructor at a 141 flight school or equivalent
- Meet recent pilot-in-command flight experience per 14 CFR 61.56(c) and 61.57(a) and (c)
- Current FAA First, Second, or Third Class Medical Certificate or BasicMed Certificate
- Valid driver's license and ability to pass MVR for company vehicle operation
- Must be insurable under Aims insurance
- Criminal background check required
