About This Role
Aims Community College is seeking an experienced Check Airman/Flight Instructor to support its FAA Part 141 flight training program in Loveland, Colorado. The role combines flight instruction, FAA compliance oversight, and student testing responsibilities to ensure high-quality, safe aviation education. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year as a flight instructor with 300 hours of instruction experience, current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate (Single-Engine Land), and CFI/CFII ratings. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Work directly with Assistant and Chief Flight Instructors
  • Audit student flight training records to verify FAA compliance of total time, solo time, cross-country, and night flight requirements
  • Conduct 12-month recurrent proficiency checks as required by the FAA
  • Perform certified flight instruction to students on an as-needed basis
  • Provide pre-flight briefings and post-flight debriefings
  • Determine student readiness for testing and authorize first solo flights
  • Conduct oral and flight testing to verify students meet FAA standards
  • Examine and supervise all levels of student training
  • Ensure all training and flight activities comply with Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Tow airplanes using company vehicle
  • Perform classroom instruction as assigned
  • Participate in curriculum and training material creation and revision
  • Work weekends as needed to provide full AFTC function
  • Serve as mentor to students and new instructors
  • Assist with instructor interviews, training, and quality oversight
  • Attend departmental meetings, FAA inspections, and FAA Safety Team meetings

Requirements
  • Current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate - Airplane Single-Engine Land
  • Certified Flight Instructor - Airplane Single-Engine Land
  • Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument Airplane
  • Minimum 1 year as a flight instructor
  • Minimum 300 hours as a flight instructor
  • Meet recent pilot-in-command flight experience per 14 CFR 61.56(c) and 14 CFR 61.57(a) and (c)
  • Minimum 6 months as a flight instructor at a 141 flight school or equivalent
  • Current FAA First, Second, Third class Medical Certificate or BasicMed Certificate
  • Valid driver's license and clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Ability to pass criminal background check and MVR screening
  • Ability to drive company vehicle for towing airplanes
