About This Role
Cayman Airways Express Ltd. is recruiting a Captain for the Saab SF340/SF34 based in George Town, Grand Cayman. Reporting to the Chief Pilot, the Captain has sole command of each flight and full authority to make overriding and final operational decisions affecting safety, while remaining responsible for passengers, crew, cargo, regulatory compliance, company procedures, crew conduct, operational reporting and flight efficiency. Applicants must hold a CAACI ATP without restrictions or an SF34 PIC-acceptable equivalent, have at least 2,000 hours of flight time including 1,000 hours on a multi-engine turbine aircraft and 500 hours on type, and meet the medical, English-language, education and professional standards listed. The role also requires U.S. B1/B2 and C1/D visa eligibility, periodic on-call work outside normal office hours, and successful completion of the Cayman Airways Express Pilot in Command course and route qualification. A six-month probationary condition may apply to pilots with less than six months of company service, and the posting advertises an excellent compensation package. Duties & Responsibilities
- The Captain is in sole charge of the aircraft for each flight or series of flights and is responsible for the safety of the aircraft, passengers and crew, with overriding and final authority over operational decisions that affect accepted safety standards. Duties include ensuring the safety and security of crew, passengers and cargo once the doors are closed
- maintaining familiarity with regulatory requirements, aviation practices and procedures
- and maintaining operational knowledge of the Company Operations Manuals to ensure compliance. The Captain must report unlawful interference to the Governor and designated local authority, verify that all required documents, certificates and approvals are valid before departure and for the duration of the flight, and ensure that crew follow procedures for travelers suspected of communicable disease. The role includes managing crew discipline, behavior and appearance on duty and away from base, preventing a flight from starting or continuing when a crew member’s capacity is impaired, notifying Base Operations of delays or route deviations, and keeping passengers informed during weather- or technical-related delays. When away from base, the Captain acts as a Senior Official of the Company and undertakes reasonable responsibilities associated with that role. During Offline Operations, the Captain handles Ship’s Funds and completes the flight expense account, submits Discretionary or Violation Reports to the Chief Pilot for onward clearance to the Civil Aviation Authority, and may vary limitations when necessary in the interests of safety. Any operation outside published regulations requires a Written Report to the Chief Pilot explaining the reasons. Portions of the duties may be delegated under the Operations Manual and Checklists, but the Captain remains responsible for checklist compliance and proper completion of all assigned duties, as well as any other work needed to ensure flight safety and efficiency.

Requirements
- Applicants must hold a CAACI ATP without restrictions or an equivalent qualification acceptable for SF34 PIC operations. The minimum experience requirement is 2,000 hours of flight time, including 1,000 hours on a multi-engine turbine aircraft and 500 hours on type. Candidates must hold a first-class FAA and CAACI medical and demonstrate English proficiency at least at ICAO Operations Level 4. The posting also requires the ability to read and understand technical flight data manuals, excellent oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to high standards of professionalism, safety and customer service. Education requirements are GCSE “O” Level passes, or equivalent, in Mathematics, English and at least one Science subject. Special conditions include a six-month probationary period and probationary monthly salary for pilots who have not completed six months of company service, the ability to obtain and hold U.S. B1/B2 Tourist/Business and C1/D Crew visas, willingness to work outside normal office hours and be periodically on call, and successful completion of the Cayman Airways Express Pilot in Command course and route qualification.
