About This Role
Berry Aviation seeks an experienced Captain to operate Dash 8 aircraft on FAR Part 135 contract operations, including OCONUS austere environments. The role involves planned flight operations with responsibilities for flight planning, crew management, aircraft maintenance coordination, and adherence to strict safety and regulatory guidelines. Candidates must hold an FAA ATPL with multi-engine rating, current medical certificate, and 1,500 hours PIC time with 500 hours multi-engine. The position requires U.S. security clearance eligibility at the Secret level and offers opportunities in challenging international delivery and specialized operations including NVG missions.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct flights as assigned, gathering weather, operational procedures, and special instructions
- Prepare and file flight plans considering altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight, and navigational factors
- Release all flights in accordance with FAR 135 guidelines with required documentation
- Conduct complete aircraft preflight inspection and risk assessment for each flight
- Ensure airworthiness inspections are accomplished and discrepancies corrected or properly deferred per MEL
- Execute flights adhering to company/customer schedules, routes, and load manifests
- Manage crew resource management (CRM) practices and brief crew on flight particulars and changes
- Communicate with on-site management regarding flight safety, aircraft maintenance, and operational issues
Requirements
- FAA Multi-Engine Airline Transport Pilot Certificate
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate
- Current U.S. Passport with at least 6 months remaining validity
- Minimum 1,500 hours PIC time
- Minimum 500 hours PIC multi-engine time
- Able to obtain and maintain U.S. Security clearance at Secret level
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Ability to lift minimum 50 lbs
- Ability to perform pilot duties up to 10 hours per day
- Willingness to work in austere environments and adverse weather conditions
