About This Role
AAR Corp's Worldwide Aviation Support Services (WASS) is seeking experienced DHC-8 Pilots in Command to support the US Department of State Air Wing on global operations. AAR is a major aerospace and defense aftermarket solutions company operating across 60+ sites in 20+ countries with 6,000+ employees. This full-time, worldwide deployable position requires a minimum of 1,500 total flight hours with 500 hours of turbine time and 300 hours PIC, along with a valid FAA Commercial and Instrument certificate and DHC-8 type rating. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as DHC-8 Pilot in Command and when required, Second in Command
  • Plan flight assignments and obtain information regarding flight purpose, weather, operating procedures, and special instructions
  • Maintain aircraft currency and proficiency in accordance with government and DoS INLA guidance
  • Deploy routinely OCONUS and occasionally CONUS to support worldwide operations
  • Prepare and supervise flight planning considering altitude, terrain, weather, range, weight and balance, cruise performance, airport facilities, and navigation aids
  • Verify aircraft airworthiness, inspections, and maintenance status
  • Conduct or supervise preflight inspections and aircraft preparation
  • Ensure proper loading, distribution, and security of passengers, baggage, and cargo
  • Ensure weight and balance limits are met and complete required documentation
  • Retain final responsibility for logging flight time and filing closing flight plans
  • Oversee reporting and recording of maintenance discrepancies
  • Maintain safety and ramp security during passenger boarding and deplaning
  • Maintain professional standards including adequate rest and proper appearance
  • Delegate functions while retaining overall responsibility

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1,500 total fixed wing flight hours
  • 500 hours of turbine engine time
  • 300 hours multi-engine pilot-in-command (PIC) time
  • FAA Commercial and Instrument Airman's Certificate (Airplane, MEL)
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Permit
  • Current FAA Class II Medical Certificate
  • DHC-8 type rating
  • Complete DHC-8 Readiness Level (RL) training within 90 days of integration
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for 180+ days annually
  • Obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
  • Previous military fixed wing flight training qualification or civilian equivalent
  • Spanish Level L-2, R-2 required for LATAM Programs
  • OCONUS - Host Nation equivalent Certifications in lieu of FAA Certifications
