About This Role
Air Malta is seeking an experienced Captain to operate the Boeing 777 fleet based in Luqa, Malta. The airline is looking for highly qualified pilots with significant command experience on medium to heavy jet aircraft. Candidates must hold a valid EASA ATPL with an Instrument Rating, a minimum of 5,000 total flight hours, and 2,000 hours PIC on medium/heavy jets including 500 hours as Captain on type or equivalent Boeing heavy aircraft. This role offers the opportunity to command long-haul international operations for a European flag carrier with responsibility for aircraft safety, crew management, and regulatory compliance across scheduled routes.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Exercise full command authority and responsibility for safe conduct of flights
  • Determine and confirm aircraft airworthiness before flight
  • Conduct pre-flight inspections of exterior and interior surfaces, controls, and systems
  • Verify fuel, mass and balance, and aircraft performance for safe flight completion
  • Conduct crew briefings with flight-specific information and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with Operations Manual and all operational procedures
  • Exercise authority to issue commands and take necessary actions for safety
  • Report hazardous weather or flight conditions to air traffic services
  • Ensure supernumeraries are briefed on emergency procedures and safety equipment
  • Maintain required flight documentation and manuals throughout operations
  • Utilize company safety reporting system
  • Maintain discipline and professional appearance as company representative
Requirements
  • Valid EASA Airline Transport Pilot License
  • Minimum 5000 hours total flight time
  • 2000 hours PIC on medium/heavy jet aircraft
  • 500 hours as Commander on B777 or equivalent Boeing heavy jet
  • Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
  • Valid Instrument Rating (IR)
  • B777 type rating (or willingness to obtain if non-type-rated with 6000+ total hours and 3000 PIC)
  • Familiarity with Maltese and international air legislation
  • No concurrent duties with other operators without prior approval from Flight Operations Manager
  • High standard of discipline, conduct and professional appearance
