About This Role
Air Malta is seeking an experienced Captain to operate the Boeing 747 from their Luqa, Malta base. The airline is seeking pilots with significant command experience on medium/heavy jet aircraft. Candidates must hold a valid EASA ATPL with Class 1 Medical and Instrument Rating, with a minimum of 5,000 total flight hours. For type-rated candidates, 2,000 hours PIC on medium/heavy jets plus 500 hours on type as Commander are required. This position offers the opportunity to lead operations on one of aviation's most iconic wide-body aircraft.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Exercise full authority and responsibility for safe conduct of flight
- Ensure safety of crew, aircraft, cargo, and supernumeraries
- Determine and confirm aircraft airworthiness prior to flight
- Review ATL, MEL, and CDL, ensuring required inspections are completed
- Ensure all known or suspected defects are recorded in the ATL
- Decide on acceptance or rejection of aircraft with unserviceable items
- Ensure preflight inspections are completed per OM-B Chapter 2
- Verify sufficient fuel, mass and balance, and aircraft performance for planned flight
- Conduct crew briefings with pertinent flight information
- Report hazardous weather or flight conditions to air traffic services
- Ensure all operational procedures, checklists and critical phase restrictions are followed
- Ensure flight recorders are not disabled and are preserved following occurrences
- Verify weather, runway condition and aerodrome minima permit safe departure
- Ensure crew and supernumeraries are properly secured before takeoff and landing
- Maintain required documents and manuals throughout the flight
- Utilize company safety reporting system
- Maintain high standard of discipline and professional appearance
Requirements
- Valid EASA Airline Transport Pilot License
- Valid Class 1 Medical Certificate
- Valid Instrument Rating (IR)
- Minimum 5,000 hours total flight time
- Type-rated: 2,000 hours PIC on medium/heavy jet aircraft
- Type-rated: 500 hours on type as Commander or Boeing Heavy Jet
- Non-type-rated alternative: 6,000 hours total time and 3,000 hours PIC on medium/heavy jet
- Maintain familiarity with Maltese and international air legislation
- High standard of discipline, conduct and professional appearance
