About This Role
Garmin is seeking a full-time Aviation Pilot Instructor 1 at their U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area to teach pilots and flight instructors about Garmin Avionics systems. The role involves developing and delivering classroom instruction, seminars, and technical support to internal and external customers including dealers, OEMs, fleets, and pilots. Candidates must hold a Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument certification and possess aviation industry experience with avionics systems. The position offers flexibility with up to 25% domestic and international travel, making it ideal for instructors passionate about advancing pilot education and avionics knowledge.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop content for classroom instruction, seminars, and electronic training materials
- Conduct instructor-led training classes and seminars for Garmin dealers, OEMs, and customers
- Provide avionics operations support to customers via phone, fax, and email
- Develop new pilot and flight instructor training programs for new Garmin products and services
- Assess internal and external training needs by conferring with Directors, Managers, and Engineers
- Represent Garmin at industry and professional meetings and conferences
- Collaborate with OEM avionics partners on training program support
- Maintain operational proficiency with Garmin avionics systems and provide input on manuals
- Provide customer input to other Garmin teams to improve Customer Experience
- Update Garmin desktop training kiosks for internal training purposes

Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certified Flight Instructor-Instrument (CFI-I) certification or military equivalent
- Aviation industry experience with avionics systems
- Proficiency using presentation programs (Prezi, PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.)
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to develop clear, engaging, and technically accurate training materials
- Ability to tailor training to various audience sizes (1-on-1 to 300+ attendees)
- Detail-oriented and team-oriented with ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to travel domestically or internationally up to 25% of time or greater
