About This Role
MAG Aerospace is seeking a Pilot in Command for ATHENA BBD-700 fixed-wing ISR operations. The role is responsible for safe, effective, and efficient flight operations on modified Contractor Owned Contractor Operated aircraft, including pre-flight planning, aircraft inspections, maintenance-fault identification, mission coordination, airspace and systems monitoring, and coordination with military and civilian air traffic facilities. The pilot will fly day and night in VMC and IMC, maintain night currency and instrument proficiency, and support operations in CONUS and OCONUS locations that may be austere or primitive. The position requires willingness to deploy overseas on an approximate 60/60 rotation and includes stringent FAA, security-clearance, citizenship, medical, passport, SERE, and radio-operator qualifications.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Ensure safe, effective, and efficient flight operations, including identifying aircraft maintenance faults and corrective actions.
- Complete and document all safety-of-flight documentation in accordance with applicable industry and FAA standards.
- Conduct pre-flight planning and aircraft pre-flight checks, and coordinate with Airborne Sensor Operators and Mission Commanders who operate the onboard sensor systems and are responsible for mission execution.
- Monitor airspace, weather, radio communications, mission flight boundaries, and aircraft systems.
- Coordinate flights with Fixed Base Operators, military range control, military and civilian Air Traffic Control facilities, Primary Mission Equipment Operators, Mission Commanders, and the Site Operations Officer.
- Operate modified Contractor Owned Contractor Operated aircraft in accordance with commercial and Host Nation regulations, as well as program policies and procedures.
- Fly during day and night operations under VMC and IMC, maintain night currency and instrument proficiency, perform additional duties assigned by the MAG Chief Pilot, and place special emphasis on crew-member safety and customer relations.
Requirements
- Required qualifications include 3,000 hours of total flight time, 2,000 hours of PIC time, and 1,000 hours of multi-engine turbine time.
- These three flight-time requirements may be waived by the MAG Chief Pilot for prior military-service personnel who hold a BBD-700 type rating and have at least 500 hours in the BBD-700, excluding simulator time.
- Candidates must hold a current FAA Class II Medical Certificate, a current FAA Commercial Pilot (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license, an FCC Commercial Radio Operator License, and SERE Level C, SERE 220, or SV83/83A training.
- They must have a current valid passport and be able to obtain a visa for international travel, possess an active Top-Secret clearance, be a U.S. citizen, and hold a passport with at least six months remaining before expiration.
- Hires are subject to a post-offer, pre-hire, pre-deployment medical assessment and must be willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 60/60 rotation to CONUS or OCONUS locations, potentially including austere and primitive sites.
- Preferred qualifications include former U.S. military or government law-enforcement pilot experience, prior overseas rotation experience in USCENTCOM, USAFRICOM, or USAPACOM areas of operation, USSOCOM global-operations experience, experience operating aircraft with a MTOW of 44,000 pounds or more, and a BBD-700 type rating.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent and seven to nine years of related experience are also preferred.
