About This Role
SkyCare is seeking an Astra Captain for its Kitchener–Waterloo base to support both air ambulance and charter operations. The role involves command of multi-engine turbine aircraft in IFR conditions on domestic and international routes across Canada, the United States, Mexico, and the Caribbean, including long-range, time-sensitive, medevac, patient-transport, and client-facing charter missions. The position is intended for experienced pilots with strong operational judgment, leadership ability, professionalism, and experience in corporate or charter flying environments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- The Astra Captain exercises command authority and maintains the highest standards of flight safety while ensuring the safety of crew members, passengers, and patients. Duties include pre-flight planning with weather analysis, fuel planning, and weight-and-balance calculations
- operating multi-engine turbine aircraft in IFR conditions on domestic and international routes
- coordinating with dispatch, maintenance, air traffic control, and ground-handling teams
- and delivering professional service during medevac and client-facing charter operations. The Captain supports charter and air ambulance missions, including patient transport when required, responds effectively to in-flight changes and operational challenges, manages dynamic schedules, and completes post-flight reporting and documentation. The role also requires sound decision-making, effective communication across flight crews and support teams, and a proactive, team-oriented approach to flight operations.

Requirements
- Applicants must have a minimum of 3,000 hours total flight time and at least 500 hours of multi-engine PIC experience.
- Required qualifications include a current Group 1 Instrument Rating, Transport Canada ATPL, valid Category 1 Medical, valid Canadian passport with the ability to travel internationally including to the United States, legal entitlement to work in Canada, a valid driver’s licence, and a Restricted Radiotelephone Operator Certificate.
- Candidates must provide a clean Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening completed within the previous 30 days.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, English proficiency, and the ability to work effectively in a team-based, multidisciplinary environment are also required.
- All pilots must complete initial company training and successfully pass a PPC conducted by a Transport Canada Inspector or Approved Check Pilot, and must comply with company SOPs, policies, and applicable regulations.
- Preferred experience includes multi-engine turbine or jet operations, corporate or charter flying, IFR and multi-crew environments, international or long-range operations, strong interpersonal and customer-service skills, and the ability to adapt to dynamic schedules and time-sensitive missions.
