About This Role
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University's Prescott campus is seeking an Assistant Chief Flight Instructor to manage approximately 20 flight instructors and 150-200 flight students. This leadership role focuses on ensuring training quality, safety compliance, and excellent student service within the Flight Department. Candidates must hold a Commercial Pilot Certificate and Flight Instructor Certificate with single-engine land and instrument privileges, plus a 2nd class medical certificate. Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide overall management for approximately 20 instructors and 150-200 flight students
- Ensure training quality and excellent student service
- Enforce training and safety standards, regulations, and procedures
- Maintain compliance with University and FAA policies and procedures
- Counsel students and instructors, resolve problems, and recommend disciplinary actions as needed
- Attend weekly Flight Training Manager meetings with Chief Flight Instructor
- Attend weekly Staff meetings with Department Chair
- Participate in daily Student Progress Briefings
- Review and adjust daily instructor schedules
- Ensure maximum utilization of instructor, aircraft, and flight training device resources
- Verify student eligibility for ground school sections
- Meet with students and families regarding training progress
- Participate in new hire instructor hiring process
- Conduct stage checks and end of course tests
- Conduct monthly Team meetings with assigned Instructor Pilots

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Commercial Pilot Certificate
- Flight Instructor Certificate with Airplane Single-Engine Land privileges
- Flight Instructor Certificate with Instrument Airplane privileges
- Valid 2nd class medical certificate or higher
- Meet minimum requirements for Assistant Chief under 14 CFR part 141 (preferred)
- Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
- Analytical and technical skills with information systems expertise
