About This Role
LIFT Academy (Leadership In Flight Training Academy, LLC) — the FAA Part 141 flight-training academy owned by Republic Airways — is hiring an Assistant Chief Flight Instructor at its West Columbia, SC (Columbia / CAE) base. The role assists in leading Part 141 ground and flight instructors, conducts stage checks and end-of-course checks, provides ground instruction per Part 61/141 and FAA regulations, and manages a team of instructors. Candidates need an FAA CFI (ASEL, AMEL, Instrument), a current First Class Medical, at least 1 year of flight-instructing experience with 500+ flight hours, and must meet FAA ATP/R-ATP minimums. G1000, Part 141, and check-instructor experience are preferred. Applications are submitted through Republic Airways' Workday career site.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform flight instructor and check instructor duties per the FARs and the approved Training Course Outline, as designated by the chief flight instructor
- Conduct stage checks, end-of-course checks, and ground instruction in accordance with Part 61 and Part 141
- Assist in leading Part 141 ground and flight instructors and manage a team of flight instructors
- Perform facilities tours and familiarize customers with LIFT Academy policies, procedures, and flight training courses
- Report on student progress and accurately maintain and update all appropriate records
- Audit student records and perform student enrollments and graduations as designated by the chief flight instructor
- Ensure course standards, training requirements, and objectives are met by all assigned students
- Monitor the maintenance condition of training aircraft and inform LIFT maintenance of any questionable items
- Recommend and develop curriculum and courseware improvements when appropriate
- Attend administrative, standardization, in-service training, and instructor development meetings
- Screen, interview, and recommend hiring; coach, lead, supervise, and appraise direct reports and oversee their training and development
Requirements
- FAA Certified Flight Instructor - Airplane Single-Engine Land, Airplane Multi-Engine Land, and Instrument
- Meets the minimum requirements for an FAA ATP or R-ATP certificate
- At least 1 year of experience as a flight instructor and 500 flight hours
- Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate
- Specialty training beyond high school toward an FAA and/or Airline Transport Pilot certificate
- Full knowledge of all curriculums authorized to teach, with effective classroom and in-flight instructional technique
- Must pass initial and ongoing drug and alcohol testing and a Federal background check
- Preferred: G1000 experience, Part 141 experience, and check-instructor experience
