About This Role
Metrea, a special mission aviation company based in Washington, DC, is seeking an Aerial Firefighting Line Pilot to join their Special Air Missions Group. The role involves multi-engine long-term retardant application operations, with DHC-8 tactical and low-level flying experience highly desirable. Candidates must hold an FAA Commercial or Airline Transport Pilot license with instrument rating, minimum 500 hours PIC with recent multi-engine turboprop experience, and be capable of receiving a Canadian Foreign License Validation. This full-time position offers competitive compensation ($100k-$200k annually), medical/dental/vision insurance, retirement plan eligibility, and the opportunity to support critical aerial firefighting missions domestically and internationally.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate DHC-8 airtanker in multi-crew aerial firefighting environment
- Conduct aircraft pre-flight inspections and checks in accordance with AFM and SOPs
- Plan flights including weather analysis, navigation, facilities, and aircraft performance
- Ensure safety of crew, aircraft, and contents during flight operations
- Complete post-flight documentation including flight logs, maintenance reports, and FAA reports
- Deliver retardant drops and conduct aerial firefighting operations
- Participate in safety and quality systems by identifying and reporting hazards
- Support development and refinement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Coordinate with company schedulers, clients, and aircrew for trip execution
- Maintain professional and courteous manner with customers and team members
- Assist Head of Flight Operations with administrative tasks and compliance

Requirements
- Greater than 200 hours aerial firefighting experience
- FAA Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license with Instrument rating
- Valid medical certificate (Class 1 equivalent)
- Minimum 500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) on airplane
- Minimum 100 hours night time
- Minimum 75 hours instrument time
- Minimum 100 hours PIC within the last 12 months
- Multi-engine turboprop experience (DHC-8 or similar preferred)
- Capable of receiving a Canadian Foreign License Validation Certificate
- Exceptional proficiency in English, both spoken and written
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment with limited supervision
- Must complete company flight training program
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Valid passport and ability to travel extensively (domestic and international)
- EASA unrestricted license equivalent acceptable
