About This Role
Metrea is seeking experienced aerial firefighting line pilots to join their Special Air Missions Group, operating DHC-8 airtanker aircraft for multi-engine retardant delivery operations. The company delivers specialized aviation services including ISR, electronic warfare, and aerial firefighting to national security partners globally. Candidates require a minimum of 500 PIC hours with a commercial or ATP license, 100+ hours night time, 75+ hours instrument, and proven aerial firefighting experience. This full-time position offers a competitive salary of $100,000-$200,000 annually with comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plan eligibility. The role involves extensive domestic and international travel with dynamic scheduling based on firefighting operations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate DHC-8 airtanker aircraft on aerial firefighting missions
- Conduct flight planning including weather, navigation, facilities analysis
- Perform pre-flight, cockpit, and post-flight checks in accordance with AFM and SOPs
- Maintain aircraft airworthiness and performance standards
- Coordinate with schedulers, clients, and aircrew for trip execution
- Complete post-flight documentation including flight logs, maintenance discrepancies, and FAA reports
- Serve as Pilot in Command with full responsibility for crew, contents, and aircraft safety
- Participate in safety and quality systems, identifying and mitigating hazards
- Support development and refinement of SOPs and TTPs
- Ensure compliance with FAA Regulations, Company Operations Manual, and Operations Specifications
- Deliver safe and effective aerial firefighting operations to customers worldwide
- Maintain applicable licensing and endorsements for assigned jurisdiction

Requirements
- FAA multi-engine Commercial Pilot or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license with Instrument rating, or equivalent EASA unrestricted license
- Valid medical certificate
- Minimum 500 hours Pilot In Command (PIC) on airplanes
- Minimum 100 hours night time
- Minimum 75 hours instrument time
- Minimum 100 hours PIC within the last twelve months
- Minimum 200 hours aerial firefighting experience
- Capable of receiving a Canadian Foreign License Validation Certificate
- Exceptional proficiency in English, both spoken and written
- DHC-8 or similar turboprop experience preferred
- Large aircraft aerial firefighting experience preferred
- Ability to complete flight training program demonstrating job proficiency
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Pass security clearance as required
- Valid work authorization
